To support our core mission and ambition to be the College of choice for physicians and related specialties internationally, we are looking to recruit into the business-critical role of Director of Finance and Corporate Services. With accountability for the financial stewardship of the College, encompassing effective financial control and reporting, you will have overall responsibility for the strategic development and operational success of the corporate functions of the College to ensure the consistent planning and delivery of strategic objectives.
As part of a small senior leadership team, you will directly support the Chief Executive Officer and wider organisation as it embarks on a period of transformational change. Embracing both operational and organisational best practice; the development of new and bespoke financial reports; the modernisation of existing systems processes and procedures; and development of new and bespoke financial reporting, you will play a critical role in ensuring the College remains efficient, financially sustainable and effectively positioned to meet the changing needs of staff and members alike.
The role requires a Qualified Accountant who is a solutions-focused and forward-thinking leader with relevant experience in directly managing and developing multidisciplinary teams that consistently deliver high standards. An accomplished communicator able to build and maintain strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders, you will also be highly analytical with the ability to get “behind the numbers” to allow well-informed and commercial decisions. Candidates should bring previous experience of continuous improvement and developing robust financial controls and procedures.

The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh is a professional membership organisation, founded in 1681 under a Royal Charter to promote the science and practice of medicine. We support a diverse range of doctors across the world with over 14,000 Fellows and Members.
We are now seeking to appoint up to 4 new members of the Lay Advisory Committee from across the UK and potentially further afield. The Lay Advisory Committee is a high-level group of non-medically qualified individuals who advise and guide the work of the College.
In this round of recruitment we particularly seek people who can use their experience in sustainability, climate change, housing and other factors to inform a developing debate about inequalities in health care.
The Committee meets routinely a few times a year in the late afternoon with sub groups meeting as the workload dictates. Video linking and telephone conferencing are available for those unable to travel to Edinburgh.
The term of office is 3 years. Membership of the committee does not attract payment but reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
We are seeking to appoint a motivated individual to support the SHAAP team’s work to influence alcohol policy and practice to reduce the harms caused by alcohol in Scotland. The diverse and often fast-paced work by SHAAP means this role will be vital in providing the team up to date, accurate, and useful evidence by undertaking agreed project work and research, and to support the work of the Scottish Alcohol Research Network (SARN).

1. To lead on agreed project work and research, to support implementation of SHAAP strategic priorities
2. To provide support for the Scottish Alcohol Research Network (SARN), as agreed with the SHAAP Director and the SARN Co-Chairs and taking the lead on specific projects
3. To research and draft relevant briefings, reports, publications and information materials, including website-based materials
4. To work as part of the SHAAP team to prepare and deliver educational conferences, seminars and workshops

The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh is seeking to appoint a Policy and Public Affairs Officer, to assist us in our policy, media and political engagement work and to support us with our corporate aim of being the ‘voice of physicians’. The ideal candidate will come from a background in public affairs, media, communications or related subject, preferably with an interest in healthcare.
The College is a professional membership organisation and registered charity, which supports the medical profession to deliver the gold standard in healthcare provision. The role
Working within the Global Engagement team and closely with the Policy and Public Affairs Manager, the Policy and Public Affairs Officer will provide a wide range of research, administrative and public affairs and policy activity. They will support the College’s advocacy activities through identifying and analysing relevant policy, providing advice and developing evidence-based positions, undertaking research, monitoring media and policy activity, responding to policy consultations and enquiries from journalists, organising events and providing administrative support.
The Person
The Policy and Public Affairs Officer will be an excellent communicator with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority. They must have the ability to advise on and communicate the College’s policy positions, with experience of researching and drafting briefings and/or policy papers and/or consultation responses. Experience of dealing with enquiries from journalists is preferable.

The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh is seeking to appoint an experienced and dynamic individual to lead the Global Engagement function.
The role will encompass leadership of a number of teams:
Global Engagement is a newly created department resulting from the merger of a number of smaller departments. The Head of Global Engagement will be responsible for ~ 20 people.
This is a unique opportunity to lead colleagues across a number of important areas of the College’s work and the successful candidate will drive forward two of the College’s strategic aims: to be the voice of physicians; and to build an inclusive and collaborative global community that supports physicians across all stages of their careers, furthering our network of Fellows and Members (F&Ms).
